Job 23-24
/“Oh, that I knew where I might find Him!” (23:3). Job, struggling to make sense of his situation, could not “find” God. Job wanted to know why righteous people suffered, and God did not answer him. He wondered about a world where the “poor go out to their toil … they glean the vineyard of a wicked man” and then sleep outside, hungry and shivering in the elements (24:5-7). Job wanted God to explain everything and to “pay attention” to him (23:6).
Despite Job’s confusion, he trusted that God understood his situation: “But He knows the way that I take.” And God’s goodness would win in the end. “When He has tried me, I shall come out as gold” (23:10).
