Ephesians 4

“I ... urge you to walk in a manner worthy of [your] calling” (v1). Paul preached the “mystery of Christ” that Gentiles were fellow heirs with Jews (ch 3), and he urged the Ephesians to live out that unity “in the bond of peace” (4:3). Vast cultural differences threatened to tear the church apart, but “there is one body and one Spirit ... one Lord, one faith, one baptism” (v4-5). The church’s leadership was responsible to help them leave behind childish, hurtful ways and to “grow up” into the maturity of Christ (v11-16).

“Put on the new self” (v24). Jesus calls us to reject the world’s divisive spirit and to express our unity through how we treat one another (v32).
