Proverbs 23
/“Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding” (v23). The proverbs teach us how to live in the fear of the Lord and not the fear of man. They warn against “toiling” (exhausting ourselves) for wealth or trying to get close to influential people (v1-9) – these are dead-ends; we’re likely to end up with nothing. “Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the fear of the LORD all the day” (v17). When we value God’s ways and His favor, we build our lives on a solid foundation.
“Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off” (v18). When we “seek first His kingdom and His righteousness,” our future is secure.
