Psalm 107

“He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water. And there he lets the hungry dwell, and they establish a city to live in” (v35-36). The psalmist rejoiced that the Creator rescues His wandering people and brings us home. From Noah to Abraham, Moses to Ruth and others, God heard His people’s cry and “led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in” (v7). These rescues were a picture of our ultimate destiny, which is to dwell together with Christ, forever, in His city of joy.

“He brought them to their desired haven” (v30). What we long for – a true home – is God’s desire for us in the Son.
