II Thessalonians 1

“To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling” (v11). Paul rejoiced that the Thessalonians were growing in love for one another, despite the persecution that they were suffering (v4). Paul saw their “resolve for good” and prayed that God would help them fulfill these plans (v11), so that their lives would match their calling to be witnesses of Christ. Their efforts were worthwhile because the King was returning (v5-10).

“So that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in him ...” (v12). In trouble or in peaceful times, our goal is for Jesus to shine in and through us.
