Psalms 108

“My heart is steadfast, O God! I will sing and make melody with all my being!” (v1). The psalmist chose to praise God even though his immediate circumstances included danger and fear (v11-12). He called on Israel to praise God “among the nations,” believing that God is sovereign over all and deserves every nations’ worship (v7-9). Focusing on praise, the psalmist was inspired to cry out, “that your beloved ones may be delivered, give salvation by your right hand and answer me!

“O grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man!” (v12). As we worship God, we are reminded that He alone is the answer to our fears, troubles, and desperate needs.
