Jeremiah 41-42

‘No, we will go to the land of Egypt, where we shall not see war or hear the sound of the trumpet or be hungry for bread, and we will dwell there” (42:14). Just as the exiles were tempted to leave Babylon even though God said He would care for them in that city, the Israelites who remained in Judah were afraid of the violent chaos in their own land (ch 41) and were tempted to flee to Egypt. But the Lord promised to care for them right where they lived, if they would trust Him and remain (42:10-12).

God’s desire is to “build you up and not pull you down,” if we will trust and obey His voice (42:10).
