Psalm 125

“As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people, from this time forth and forevermore” (v2). The psalmist declared that God’s concern, protection, and care for His people surround them like the mountains, keeping them safe and stable. This relationship means that we, His people, lean on Him fully: “those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved” (v1). As we anchor ourselves in Him and His ways (v4), we experience peace.

“Do good, O Lord, to those who are good” (v4). Our “goodness” comes from trusting in the love God poured out in Christ so that we can be His sons and daughters. He is our peace and our stability.
