Jeremiah 45-48
/“But fear not, O Jacob my servant, nor be dismayed, O Israel, for behold, I will save you from far away, and your offspring from the land of their captivity” (46:27). Jeremiah prophesied that the Babylonians would conquer Judah, which they did, and he also prophesied disaster against Moab, Egypt, and the Philistines (ch 47, 48). Yet God’s desire was not to wipe out humanity; it was to humble the nations so that they would seek Him. Even Moab had a future in the “latter days” (48:47).
“Jacob shall return and have quiet and ease, and none shall make him afraid” (46:27). God’s warnings are for our good, because He wants us to repent and find refuge, “quiet, and ease”.
