Psalm 120
/“Deliver me, O LORD, from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue” (v2). The psalmist felt the frustration of someone trying to establish peace among people who prefer chaos and conflict (v7): “I am for peace ... they are for war! (v7). He was surrounded by “lying lips”; everyone manipulated and fought for their own positions. Humanly speaking, the psalmist was ready to give up. “Too long have I had my dwelling among those who hate peace (v6). Yet he turned to the Lord in hope.
“In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me” (v1). Our human efforts at peace-making fall short, but God’s power can bring real healing and change.
