Hebrews 11
/“But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city” (v16). The faithful people in this chapter acted on the reality of God’s presence; they “endured as seeing Him who is invisible” (v17). Knowing God was at work, they courageously gave up their earthly inheritances, defied kings, and resisted the “fleeting pleasures of sin” for the sake of God’s promises and the homeland He is preparing (v14).
We can choose the right way now, even when it seems like losing, because we are “looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God” (v10).
