Hebrews 12
/“...Let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” (v1). Hebrews tells us that we can endure our race because Jesus ran before us (v2). The “founder and perfecter of our faith” bore the shame and consequence of sin on the cross “for the joy that was set before him” (v2) - our reconciliation. He experienced weakness, temptation, and persecution, and so we can endure too with His help (v4).
“Therefore, let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken” (v28). Our circumstances and our world may be shaken, but our citizenship is in Jesus’ unshakeable kingdom.
