Hebrews 5
/“Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered” (v8). Jesus, who had existed for all eternity within the perfect fellowship of Father, Son, and Spirit, became like us to fulfill God’s purpose for humanity, which we had failed to do. As a man, “he learned obedience” in our place. And in our place, he cried out to God. “In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death” (v7).
“And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him” (v9). By faith, Jesus’ obedience and fellowship with the Father becomes ours, too.
