Hebrews 7
/“This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant” (v22). As rich and beautiful as Israel’s old covenant was, Hebrews tells us that the new covenant written in Jesus’ blood is far superior. The old system of the priesthood, with ordinary men inheriting the role and offering regular sacrifices, was a shadow of the real thing. Jesus our High Priest is “holy, innocent, unstained ...He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily ... since he did this once for all when he offered up himself” (v26-27).
Jesus is able to completely save “those who draw near to God through him.” He gave Himself for us “once for all,” and He constantly intercedes for us (v25).
