Ezekiel 19-21

“In the seventh year...certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD” (20:1). In Babylon, the leaders of the exiles came to the prophet Ezekiel to “inquire” of the Lord (ask for advice, guidance), but the Lord rebuked them. “I will not be inquired of by you” (20:2), because of their “abominations.” God refused to be used like a magic genie by His unfaithful people. He wanted them to obey His ways, which, “if a person does them, he shall live” (20:10-11).

“I am the Lord your God ... be careful to obey My rules” (20:19). We don’t need to look for signs when God’s Word has clearly spoken. He wants us to trust and obey Him.
