II Peter 2-3

“Take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability” (3:17). Peter wanted believers to resist the heresies and manipulations of false teachers (ch2) so that they could whole-heartedly pursue living for Jesus (3:11). He reminded them that the swirling conflicts, politics, and upheavals of this earth are temporary; they were citizens of the “new heavens and new earth, where righteousness dwells” (3:13). God was calling them to daily obedience, to be “diligent to be found by Him, without spot or blemish” (3:14), when He returns.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ” (3:18). In this way we won’t “lose our stability” (v17).
