Ezekiel 6-8
/“Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark ...?” (8:12). As Judah was threatened by the strong Babylonian empire, they turned to idols instead of to God. The prophet Ezekiel declared that God saw what was happening “in the dark” and on the high places of idolatry, as people chased prosperity and the satisfaction of their needs. God promised them that Jerusalem would fall and none of this, nor their silver or gold, could save them (7:19).
“They cannot satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs with it” (7:19). The power, pleasure, and security of the world are false promises, but Jesus is our unshakeable refuge in uncertain times.
