Matthew 6-7

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven” (7:21). Jesus explained that being his disciple means living according to God’s kingdom now, in our daily lives. Rather than seeking the approval of others, we should give, pray, and fast because we want to draw close to God (ch 6). Following Jesus means we pursue “treasure in heaven” rather than material wealth (6:20) and forgive others rather than holding grudges (6:14).

“Do not worry ...” (6:25). When we make Jesus our King, we can rest in His wisdom, authority and power. His way is best, and we can simply follow.
