Matthew 9-10

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” (9:36). Jesus saw men and women through the Father’s eyes: created in His image, yet helplessly oppressed by sin and its consequences. Jesus knew everyone had failed, yet everyone could start again with him - he called a corrupt tax collector, Matthew, to be his disciple (9:9-11). Then he sent out his disciples with his own mission: to heal, show mercy, and live as “sheep among wolves” (10:16).

“Don’t be afraid” (10:31). Jesus calls us to walk with him and learn to see others through his eyes. As we do, our good Shepherd guides, protects, and defends us.
