Genesis 18-24

“Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son” (22:12). God’s covenant with Abraham began with a call and promise: ‘Leave your people and go to a new land, and I will make your descendants a great nation, and all the nations will be blessed through you’ (ch 12). Abraham’s side of the covenant required faith demonstrated through obedience: he believed God, left his home, and eventually offered up his beloved son Isaac. God did not want Isaac’s death; instead, He desired Abraham’s total surrender.

“I will surely bless you” (22:17). As our faith in the Lord grows, we surrender more to Him, because we increasingly trust His love, mercy, and infinite wisdom.
