Matthew 11
/“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart ...” (28-29). When John wondered if Jesus was truly the Messiah, Jesus told him to consider the ways of the new kingdom. “The blind receive sight, the lame walk ... the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor” (5-6). The new King fulfilled the prophecies of God’s people and the longings of all people.
“You will find rest for your souls” (29). The Messiah’s rule changes everything. The humble, the sorrowful, and the broken find a King who offers healing and rest.
