I Samuel 21-23
/“Once again David inquired of the Lord, and the Lord answered him ...” (23:4). As David was fleeing from King Saul and men were gathering around him, he learned to “inquire” of God or God’s prophet before going into battle. His defeat of Goliath was based on faith in God’s power, and in the same way, David could only evade King Saul with the Lord’s help. Trapped in the town of Keilah, David followed God’s voice step by step to lead his men out (23:7-14).
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you” (Psalm 56:3). With his enemies in “hot pursuit,” David learned to listen to the Lord. Through our biggest challenges, God teaches us to trust him.
