I Samuel 24-26

“As surely as I valued your life today, so may the Lord value my life and deliver me from all trouble” (26:24). David’s encounters with King Saul show him abiding by ethics rooted in faith in God. When presented with “perfect” opportunities to conquer his enemy, David refused to kill the king, trusting that “the Lord himself will strike him, or his time will come and he will die” (26:10). Later, Abigail recognized that this choice to trust God for his success would lead to great things for David (25:28-31).

When we believe God will give us “every good thing he promised” (25:30) in his time and way, we have power to resist the world’s ways and obey his voice.
