John 7

“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink” (37). At the time of the Feast of Tabernacles in Judea, there was raging controversy about Jesus. The Jewish leaders wanted to kill him, his brothers didn’t believe in him, and many were whispering and wondering about him (12). Jesus refused to choose a “side” or to be manipulated; rather, he openly declared: “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them” (38).

When we are parched and exhausted from the competition, temptations, and false promises of the world, Jesus offers living water. If we receive him, his divine life floods our souls and his Spirit begins to ‘flow from within us’.
