I Kings 19-20

“I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors” (19:14). Elijah had confronted the prophets of Baal and seen fire fall from heaven; he had announced a drought and defied King Ahab. Yet at some point his strength failed, fear overtook him, and he wanted to give up. Instead of condemning Elijah, the Lord provided food, rest, and spoke to him in a “gentle whisper” (19:7-13). Finally, he provided Elijah with an apprentice, Elisha (19:21).

“Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you” (19:7). The Lord intimately knows our struggles and is ready to provide what we need so we can continue our journey with him.
