I Kings 21-22
/“Is there no longer a prophet of the Lord here whom we can inquire of?” (22:7). When the Kings of Israel and Judah wanted to go to war as allies, they asked for counsel from their prophets. But King Jehoshaphat realized that these “prophets” were saying what they thought would give them favor, rather than the truth. The kings then turned to the prophet Micaiah, known for speaking God’s Word with no thought of reward (22:8). Sure enough, Micaiah predicted disaster and called Israel “sheep without a shepherd” (22:17).
“I saw the Lord sitting on his throne ...” (22:19). We are children of the true King, and like Micaiah, his Spirit empowers us to speak and live for him without fear.
