Acts 17

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands” (24). In the Jewish synagogues, Paul “reasoned with them from the Scriptures” (2,17), explaining how the Messiah Jesus fulfilled prophecy. But with the pagan Athenians who did know the Hebrew Scriptures, Paul’s starting point was their common humanity, as part of God’s good creation. Paul believed even those ignorant of Israel’s history were being called to put their faith in Christ

“Therefore since we are God’s offspring ...” (29). Whatever our background, we are all God’s “offspring” – created in his image, with the potential to know him through his Son Jesus.
