Zechariah 1-5

“Who dares despise the day of small things?” (4:10). The prophet Zechariah knew that the returned exiles who were rebuilding Jerusalem and its Temple were discouraged. Through Zechariah, God reminded them that their work was part of something much greater. One day, “Jerusalem will be a city without walls because of the great number of people and animals in it. And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord”. (2:4). Even more, the promise was for the whole world: “Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people” (2:11).

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit” (4:6). Empowered by the Spirit, our small efforts to be faithful to Jesus become part of God’s incredible plan of redemption
