Psalm 138

“Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly” (6). The glory of the Lord surpasses all the “gods” of this world, and his fame deserves the worship of kings (1,4). Yet this awesome Creator bends down to us and hears us when we call (3). The days and details of our lives matter to him, especially our distress. “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life” (7). God’s “unfailing love and faithfulness” (2) uphold the universe and reach into our individual situations.

“When I called, you answered me” (3). God never runs out of compassion or attention. He will not abandon us, his creation, but instead is constantly at work for our good (8).
