Habakkuk 1-3
/“Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and establishes a town by injustice!” (2:12). The prophet Habakkuk saw disaster coming for God’s people because of their persistent violence and injustice. But Habakkuk also saw that eventually, “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord” (2:14). God was “in his holy temple” (2:19), and so Habakkuk waited patiently. He believed the stories of God’s kindness and faithfulness, and he prayed, “in our time make them known; in wrath, remember mercy” (3:12).
“Though the fig tree does not bud ... though the olive crop fails ...yet I will rejoice in the Lord” (3:17-18). When we do not yet see God’s answer, we remember his faithfulness and we wait in hope.
