Zephaniah 1-3
/“But I will leave within you the meek and humble. The remnant of Israel will trust in the name of the Lord” (3:12-13). God gave the prophet Zephaniah a glimpse of how his fierce judgment of sin would leave room for mercy. God promised to remove the “arrogant boasters” (3:11) from Israel, getting rid of false prophets and greedy princes so that “the meek” would fill the land (3:1- 5). God would make something new with unlikely people. “I will rescue the lame; I will gather the exiles” (3:19).
“I will give them praise and honor in every land where they have suffered shame” (3:19). In Christ, God gathers the outcast, the humble, and theordinary, and he makes us his own people.
