I Samuel 15-19

These chapters tell us of the divergence of the lives of Saul and David. Both had been anointed by Samuel, but Saul became more arrogant and disobedient (15:1-21) so David was chosen to replace him (16:1). David’s public introduction was his victory over Goliath, the giant (chapt. 17), and was taken to live in the palace of Saul (18:1ff).

In Acts 13, Paul and Barnabas are sent as missionaries (v1-3). Their first recorded missionary sermon is of Saul and David (Acts 13:16-43). Note v 22. God still looks for the man or woman whose heart, like David’s, is after the heart of God, who will do His will.
