Luke 5-6
/“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? ... But love your enemies, do good to them” (6:33-35). Jesus knew that most people think life is a “zero-sum” game in which resources are limited, some win, and others lose. But the presence of Jesus, among us by the Spirit, opens us to God’s infinite power, love, and mercy. Peter had “worked hard all night” and caught nothing (5:5), until Jesus came. Loving our enemies is impossible, unless Jesus is present.
“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful” (6:36). When we are attached to the Source of infinite life, we don’t have to fight for what is ours. God’s grace flows through us to others.
