Leviticus 21-25
/“Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you” (Lev. 25:10). The Hebrew calendar was broken up by a series of sevens including the seventh day of the week, the seventh year, and finally seven sabbatic years (49 total) followed by a year of jubilee. All Sabbaths were times of rest, but the jubilee year included returning of property, letting fields rest, and forgiving debt. It was a national re-set so that poverty would not become so intergenerational. All were reminded that God was the source of prosperity.
We are told to forgive others as Christ has forgiven us, Matt. 6:12; Eph. 4:32. It takes faith, but jubilee always follows.
