II John 1
/“And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love” (6). John saw that those who denied Jesus had “come in the flesh” (7) were the same ones who refused to “walk in love”. These “deceivers” worshipped a disembodied, untouchable, celestial Christ, rather than Jesus the Son who made himself one of us. This made it easier for them to despise and dehumanize other human beings; John calls this the “antichrist” spirit (7).
God’s perfect Son chose to experience our frailty and love us while we were his enemies. As his disciples, he calls us to walk in the same “truth and love” (3).
