Proverbs 16-22
/“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans” (16:3). The proverbs teach us what is truly important: centering our lives on the Lord rather than on shallow or self-centered desires. Things like self-control, how we speak, and how we treat others are at the core of a God-honoring life. “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (8:21). “It is to one’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel (20:3).
“Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life” (22:4). We know we fall short, but the Lord helps us. His desire is that we find life.
