Numbers 25-27
/“... what Zelophehad’s daughters are saying is right” (27:7). God was concerned about justice in the case of the inheritance of Zelophephad’sdaughters. He desires that all people to flourish in the Promised Land, that they are not willingly deceived into worshipping other gods (25:1), and that they have competent leadership (27:18). While the pagan nations around Israel – like today – might reward the powerful, God’s intent is that no one is overlooked. He speaks on behalf of the daughters who would likely have been ignored, and he calls his people to do the same.
Our good God is concerned that everyone shares in His promises. He “lifts up the humble” and “fills the hungry with good things” (Luke 1:53).
