Luke 6

“For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (38). The religious leaders were disturbed (11) as Jesus continued his ministry among those who were downtrodden (19). He taught the disciples that the kingdom of God is not for people who think they are “winning” social games of status and competition, but for those who recognize that they are needy (20-22). Jesus reminded his disciples that none of us are in a position to condemn others; we are all recipients of God’s mercy (36-37).

“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful” (36). Following Jesus, we are people of grace: quick to forgive and generous towards others. In doing so we live full lives, “running over” with the goodness of God (38).
