Psalm 123
/“Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us, for we have endured no end of contempt” (3). Human relationships can feel like a constant competition for the upper hand. Poisoned by sin, those with power often give in to arrogance and pride, making those beneath them feel small (4). The psalmist said the answer was to look to the Lord as servants look to their master. God, our true King, never makes us feel small or insignificant, but lifts us up and shows us mercy.
“I lift up my eyes to you” (1). We are known and loved by the great Creator of everything. Living for Him gives us significance and dignity, no matter our circumstances.
