Deuteronomy 27-28
/“The Lord will establish you as his holy people ... if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him” (28:9). God promised to pour out blessing on Abraham’s descendants in the Promised Land if they would “fully obey the Lord” (28:1). But if they turned to idolatry, violence, and sexual sins, they would experience all the curses of a broken world, and they would end up back in captivity (28:68). Their well-being depended on remaining in fellowship with God (28:9-10).
God wanted his holiness to be displayed through the daily lives of his people. Israel was to be a living example of a community called by “the name of the Lord” (28:9-10).
