Deuteronomy 29-30
/“See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction” (30:15). The Israelites knew that “life and prosperity” in the Promised Land would come from obeying the terms of the covenant and following God whole-heartedly (30:15-16). However, history shows their constant struggle with idolatry due to their sinful hearts. God promised that one day, he would do something the Law could never do. The Messiah would “circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants”, making it possible to truly love and serve the Lord (30:6).
“Then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you” (30:15-16). God invites us into fellowship with him through Jesus Christ, so that we can experience real, abundant life.
