“To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” (16). Early in his ministry, Jesus demonstrated two aspects of his earthly mission. At a wedding, he turned water into wine, meeting the human need of the moment in a dramatic and compassionate way (1-11). At the Temple, he was full of zeal for God’s holiness, driving out those who had been using God’s house for profit instead of prayer. He came to show us who God truly was.

“Many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name” (23). When we look at Jesus, we see God – both his shining righteousness and his tender love toward us.
