Psalm 130
/“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope” (5). Out of great anguish, the psalmist cried out to God (1). He recognized the terrible problem of sin; “but with you there is forgiveness” (4). The great Creator who offers mercy when we deserve judgment is the One we wait for, the One who can calm our souls when we are at the end of our own efforts and everything else. “I wait for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning” (6).
“Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord is unfailing love and with him is full redemption” (7). In our deepest despair, only God’s unfailing love can rescue us.
