Psalm 142

“Look and see, there is no one at my right hand; no one is concerned for me” (4). The reality of human life is that many people feel deeply alone; they feel that no one is looking out for them or cares about their daily struggles. The psalmist took this “complaint” to the One who does see and care (1-3). In prayer, he remembered that God was his refuge. God sees us, and he is our true “portion” – the One that satisfies our hearts – on this earth (5).

“Set me free from my prison that I may praise your name” (7). God wants to set us free so that we experience joy, knowing that he truly cares for us.
