Psalm 67

“May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us” (1). The psalmist prayed this seemingly self-focused prayer, knowing that God’s favor on his people had a greater purpose: “that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations” (2). People who have experienced God’s goodness become his witnesses, with the end result that more and more come to know him and join in praise to the true King (3-5).

“May God bless us still, so that the ends of the earth will fear him” (7). God’s good gifts to us – forgiveness, kindness, provision – become open doors for others to experience the same blessing.
