Psalms 92-93

These two Psalms have similar themes. Both are Psalms of exaltation of God leading to exultation and celebration. Psalm 92 (NIV) begins with “It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name .... proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night.” What a wonderful “wake-up,” reminding ourselves of God’s love and faithfulness. Psalm 93 opens with “The Lord reigns.... Robed in majesty and armed with strength.”

These Psalms are antidotes to the fear that follows the Covid visitations. In the middle of loss, weakness and confusion, “It is good to praise the Lord and make music.” It is not to deny reality, but to confess a greater reality, “The Lord reigns!!”
