Genesis 26-27
/“Isaac asked his son, “How did you find it so quickly, my son?” “The Lord your God gave me success,” he replied” (27:21). The story of Abraham’s descendants, while emphasizing their faith, also shows them repeatedly falling into a familiar trap: lacking trust in God’s ways, they tried to force his promises by their own means. Not trusting God’s promise to bless Jacob (25:3), his mother Rebecca helped him deceive Isaac to steal the blessing. Trying to seize “success” on their own terms led to terrible enmity between Esau and Jacob (27:41-42).
“I will be with you and will bless you ....” (26:3-4). Rather than desperately trying to achieve success by any means, we can trust the Lord to fulfill his promises.
