Psalm 6

“Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long?” (2-3). The psalmist knew what it was to experience deep distress and not to receive a quick answer from the Lord. “I am worn out from my groaning” (6), he said, “and drench my couch with tears” (6). His issues found no short-term solution, and yet he kept praying in faith, “Save me because of your unfailing love” (4).

“The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer” (9). No matter how long it takes, we can trust that the One who loves us does hear our prayer and will answer.
