Exodus 8-15
/“The Lord is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation” (15:2). God rescued the Israelites from slavery in Egypt, which was one of the mightiest nations on earth, the pride of human achievement and human-made idols (12:2). By the plagues and the death of the firstborn, God demonstrated that everything humans try to build is useless without Him, and only the blood of the Passover sacrifice shields us from the consequences of our rebellion (12:13).
“He is my God, and I will praise Him” (15:2). As we turn from our idols and entrust our hopes to the Lord, His blood covers our sins, and He leads us out of slavery to a new and bountiful life (15:13).
