Mark 6-7

“They were completely amazed, for they had not understood about the loaves; their hearts were hardened” (7:51-52). The disciples, after experiencing the multiplication of bread for thousands of people (7:44), were still trying to cope with life by their own efforts. On the lake, they were “straining at the oars, because the wind was against them” (7:48); apparently, they had not asked Jesus for help. Then he walked across the lake and got into their boat, “and the wind died down” (51).

We don’t have to serve the Lord or fight our battles by our own efforts. Jesus is ready to multiply the bread and to calm the storm, if we will simply ask him.
